The Langtang Trek can be extended into the Gosainkunda area which gives one the full range of experiences. The Langtang Gosainkunda Trek takes one close to Tibet, as the valley lies just south of that border. You will be able to learn much about the traditions and culture of the Tamang people who live in the region and how they share many of the same customs as the Tibetans. Trekking through a sub-tropical jungle, then a dense forest of oak, birch and pine, the valley opens out onto alpine meadows and yak pastures

The highlight in spring is beholding the splendor of these high meadows carpeted with a rich variety of alpine wildflowers and the forests in full bloom with rare tree orchids, wild primulas and colorful rhododendron. At the same time be able to explore the sacred place of the Hindu people, Gosainkunda Lake. There you can visit the exotic temple of the God Shiva, and view the magnificent holy lakes from the surrounding hills. Splendid panoramas of such peaks as Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, Himalchuli, and the whole Annapurna range can be seen along the way. You will be amazed at the diversity of natural beauty and interesting culture that one can observe in this area so close to Kathmandu, yet removed from civilization.
