Trek in the Everest region is always a most amazing for great views of Everest and other Himalayas. Gokyo Lake Trek is known as an alternative to the classical Everest base camp trekking. Along the way of Gokyo Lake Trek you will be passing grazing settlement of Yak to reach the Gokyo lakes and we climb the Gokyo Ri peak (5483 m) for the Panoramic views. You will get an opportunity to observe the stunning scenery of Mt. Everest, Makalu and Cho Oyo (8021m) Mt Everest (8848 m) including the largest glacier in Nepal named Ngozumpa and many more other surrounding peaks. This trek is better one for those who like to explore in the Everest region without physical stress.

The trek starts from Lukla, when you reach the gateway of Khumbu region Namche, we branch off from the main busy trail towards the sleepy village of phortse Tenga, Dole and Machhermo. The trail from Machhermo start to change in to broad pastures, narrow clefts with steeply climbing trails an icy stream to cross stony wastes and the banks of tarns and first lake of the trail continuous to way up stone steps to the third Lake to Dudh Pokhari turquoise in color and reflecting the white face of Cho Oyu (8153m) seen ahead and finally reach to your ultimate destination Gokyo Lake. There are few tea houses available for overnight which are basic but enough comfortable.

From Gokyo Lake there are many options for high altitude walking including crossing of Cho La pass and Rengo La pass however you will not cross those passes. Rather you return back to Lukla via the same previous route. This Gokyo Lake trekking is indeed a less crowded than the Everest Base Camp trekking.
