To do Everest base camp trekking you must be mentally and physically prepared even there is no vertical climbing involved. The trekking trial is rough and rocky with lots of upwards and downwards. Most of the trekking days include 4-7 hours of slow walking. Altitude is the biggest problem. Going slowly and not let you body dehydrated is essential to avoid sickness.
Mountain world treks never suggest doing Everest base camp trekking individually. Always better to consult with the government registered trekking company and get licensed guide from them. Guides are different than porters; they do not carry your bag! They just guide you and look after you. Having guide along could prove invaluable – particularly if something goes wrong or you begin to experience symptoms of altitude sickness. For enjoyable hiking we suggest to hire porter too, so you can enjoy more with light weight day pack and someone from the local village of Nepal he will get job as porter and he can look after his family with that money which you pay for him.
Before starting trek you should make sure you have enough gear for the trip, click in this link to know what kind of gear you need. Of course you may buy all the trekking gears here in Kathmandu at very reasonable price too. Sleeping bag, down jacket, trekking poles can rent as well.
